Friday, November 12, 2021, will be exactly a year since former President Jerry John Rawlings passed away.
The family of the late Ex-President has announced that to mark the first anniversary, there will be a Remembrance Mass at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka, in Accra on November 12.
According to a statement signed by a former aide to the late ex-President, Mr Kobina Andoh Amoakwa, the mass would commence at 9 a.m., with the dress code being white.
It was also indicated in the statement that although the public was invited, seating would be on a first-come, first-served basis, as the Cathedral would host a limited number of congregants due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Similarly, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party founded by President Rawlings, has also outlined some activities to mark the day.
A statement issued by the General Secretary of the party, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, indicates that the Functional Executive Committee of the party, at its meeting on October 26, 2021, decided that the anniversary should be marked at all levels of the party.
“That 12th November, 2021 should be observed with various activities, including vigils and mass gatherings, with strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocol, to commemorate the event,” it said.
All regional offices of the party have therefore been directed to ensure proper planning towards the anniversary.
