Akwasi Frimpong mourns the demise of his Samaritans

Ghana’s skeleton athlete and 2018 Winter Olympian, Akwasi Frimpong, has been thrown into a state of mourning as he learned of the passing away of two of his helpers – a double blow.

Frimpong, who holds the enviable record as the first African to win a skeleton race, today Wednesday January 14, 2021, twitted to break the sad news to his followers and to pay tribute to the two men who have played very pivotal roles in his career.

A heartbroken Akwasi Frimpong wrote, “Sad day as I just found out that Mr. Henri Wientjes who supported my 2018 Olympic dreams via Cocoa from Ghana has passed away & also Joost Bellaart who helped with the sponsorship via @marktuitert. To their families I would like to offer my deepest & most sincere condolences. #RIP”

He sent his deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
