The novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) is likely to hit 2000 confirmed cases according to Dr Theo Acheampong – a petroleum economist and a political risk analyst.

As at now, Ghana’s confirmed number of cases sit at 1,550 with 155 recoveries and 11 deaths according to the Ghana Health Service.

Dr Acheampong indicated that “a second-order polynomial trendline indicates we are on course to have about 2000 confirmed cases in the next 7 days.”  This figure was arrived at after using the available data by fitting some statistical trends.

He shared his findings on his Twitter handle:

The recent skyrocketing of confirmed cases being recorded in the country seem to back Dr Acheampong’s projection. It must be stated however, that, his projection and analysis is a probability, though scientific.

With the ban on public gathering extended for another two weeks by the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the public must be extra careful in their dealings by maintaining good personal hygiene and social distancing.
