The Elephants of La Cote d’Ivoire and Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has tested positive for COVID-19.
The unfortunate news was confirmed on Sunday.
The 26-year-old Ivorian reportedly caught the virus while on international duties for the Ivory Coast during the recent international break.
The Manchester United centre-back is yet to rejoin his English Club, as a result.
Bailly posted a message to supporters after the news broke at the weekend.
The no-nonsense defender in short video uploaded on his official Instagram account on Monday afternoon, thanked his fans for their outpouring of love and support.
Bailly assured supporters that he was fine and everything was OK.
“Hi guys. Thanks for all of your messages. Just to say, I am good, I am fine, everything is good. It is just time to rest and come back stronger.” the rugged defence man said.
Bailly helped the Ivory Coast to secured a spot in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon when The Elephants won their double header qualifiers 3-0 and 3-1 against Niger and Ethiopia respectively, in March.
The Ivorians finished top of their group with 13 points after six games.
