Football legend Diego Armando Maradona has died at 60 in his native Argentina.
He is reported to have died of cardiac arrest at home in Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Prior to his demise, Maradona was hospitalized on November 2, 2020 in La Plata due to psychological reasons although his representative assured the public Diego’s condition was not serious.
After a successful emergency brain surgery to treat subdural hematoma, a blood clot of the brain, he was discharged on November 12 and was treated as an outpatient.
His death came as a shock to many who had received the good news of the successful surgery early on.
Maradona (nicknamed “El Pibe de Oro”, The Golden Boy), was captain of the Argentinean squad that won the World Cup in 1986.
He was generally regarded by many football enthusiasts as one of the greatest of all time.
