The National Communications Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Awudu Ishaq, has justified the suspension of the party’s General Secretary, Janet Nabila, saying her actions were destabilizing the party.
Mr. Ishaq explained that Janet Nabila through false allegations had consistently put the party in a bad light and attempted to destabilize the party.
“There has been a lot of negative press emanating from what she does and the kind of things she says. There has never been an instance where she talks about what the party wants to do right. It is about accusations, trying to destabilize the party’s front, creating seeds of discord. That does not amount to what I call giving reverence to the party .”
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PNC on August 28, 2021, took a decision to indefinitely suspend Nabila over “gross misconduct, insubordination, and incompetence.”
But she subsequently denied all the allegations levelled against her and rejected the suspension.
Janet Nabila rather alleged that the party’s Chairman, Moses Dani Baah, and their 2020 flagbearer, David Apasara embezzled an amount of GH¢70,000 from the party’s coffers and failed to account with any justifiable reason.
On the other hand, Mr. Ishaq insisted that the allegations of embezzlement were unfounded adding that they “qualify for her to face disciplinary action.”
His comments come a day after the headquarters of the party was thrown into a state of confusion as leaders were involved in heated exchanges during a press conference to inform Ghanaians on Janet Nabila’s suspension.
