Satellites to receive $10K each for winning AFCON – Akufo-Addo promises

It is raining cash on the Black Satellites contingent after they emerged Champions of Africa last Saturday night.

The Players and technical staff members of the Ghana U-20 winning team will receive a financial reward of $10,000 dollars each for lifting the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations title in Mauritania.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made the announcement when the winning team visited the Jubilee House to present the trophy to him on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Ghana beat East Africa debutant Uganda 2-0 in the final to win the ultimate in what turned out to be a very exciting tournament.

On top of that, Ghana also won the best goalkeeper award as well as the overall best player of the tournament award.

Addressing the team, Nana Akufo Addo announced a hefty $10,000 package for each of the 27 players who participated at the tournament and the nine technical team members, totalling $360,000.

According to the president, each playing member will receive $5,000 in cash and the other half in a 10 year investment facility.

In addition to this, President Akufo-Addo made a personal pledge of $5,000 each to goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, skipper Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, overall best player Fatawu Issahaku and Head coach Karim Zito.

The event was attended by the leadership of the Ghana Football Association, Chief of Staff Hon. Akosua Frema Osei Opare, Nana Asante Bediatuo, Secretary to the President and other staff members at the Presidency among other dignitaries.
